aqueous-sun published (again)

Journal Entry: Fri Jul 11, 2008, 2:06 PM

The third edition of Andrew Mitchell's AS Law textbook has just been published. The cover features:

once again. This time the publishers, in their infinite wisdom, have decided that a particularly revolting shade of green is just what the 'yoof' will be down with....

Name of Image

The book also contains many photographs of 'legal London' by myself....

Details of the book can be found at [link]

Out Of The Comfort Zone II

Journal Entry: Sun Jun 15, 2008, 1:33 PM

There was a very disappointing response to my request for Deviations from outside people's comfort zones.... Thanks very much, though, to ~DrZapp, =elsatiph-index and *rosebud10 for their contributions....

"Although it may be just a TV for some, for me, it brings back memories of when I was a child, foolishly imagining myself being places, while watching the discovery channel. Even though it sounds weird, but it's not for the imaginative fun for which I watched the discovery channel for, it was for what I felt by the warm, wonderful colors of the world."

"I have several artists that I truly admire and find their art profoundly interesting. ~Galadiera is one of them. She is a very talented photographer, almost literary in its essence. Another artist is *khamuslestat. He is one of the most talented designers I know in DA. His works have all those artistic elements I like: conceptualism, typography, design, photography, inner depth of balance between you as a person and as an artist."

"I really like *iram Her work can sometimes be very simple but so effective - I particularly like this recent piece from her. I am quite conservative in my approach and I like the way she sees colours and shapes and can change a shot just by changing the angle."

Out Of The Comfort Zone....

Journal Entry: Mon Jun 9, 2008, 1:47 PM

Last time out I remarked on the number of minds that seem to be closing on DeviantArt rather than opening (the rise of analogue zealotry and Photoshopophobia for example).....

This time round, on a more positive note, I'd like people to note me with a link (or links) to a favourite Deviation (or Deviations) - by a Deviant other than themselves of course! - that's in a style very different from either your own work or from the sort of thing you usually like.... Something outside your usual comfort zone....

I'll feature the most interesting ones next time....

Feeling Positively Negative & Berlin

Journal Entry: Thu May 22, 2008, 1:29 PM

I must admit to falling a bit out of love with DeviantArt recently.... The rise of analogue zealotry and its attendant obsession with methods over results (the actual image is the whole point surely).... The belief, that I am unable to share, that an uninteresting scene becomes an interesting one just because you point a toy camera at it.... The, frankly ridiculous, mantra that using a camera takes great skill but using Photoshop takes none at all.... These are just some of the reasons for the disillusionment and lack of inspiration on my part.... Minds seems to be closing left and right when they should be opening....

Using a lot of my creative energy on work that I can't share here doesn't help either....

And don't get me started on people who don't acknowledge comments.... My time is as precious as yours....

Anyway, on a more positive note, I'm off to Berlin with *rosebud10 and others for a week on Sunday. Hopefully, I'll come back flushed with enthusiasm, ideas and energy....

In the meantime, here's some work by people who, I feel, follow their muse wherever it may take them....
